Interior Access
Buried in the small streets of the Bari Gotic, the Església de Santa Maria del Mar is one of the most important buildings in the Catalan Gothic style. An austere exterior, the decoration is kept to the two main doorways.
The interior of the church is beautiful in its austerity and simplicity. The plain stonework of the apse with its many windows and columns acts like a beacon contrasting with the darkness of the nave. Like the Església de Betlem, its interior was gutted during the Spanish Civil War, but the removal of the stalls and screens only increases the interior's beauty and simplicity.
Enterrado en las calles pequeñas de la Bari Gotic, el Església de Santa María del Mar es uno de los edificios más importantes del estilo gótico de Catalan. Un exterior austero, la decoración se guarda a los dos umbrales principales. El interior de la iglesia es hermoso en su austeridad y simplicidad. La cantería llana del apse con sus muchas ventanas y las columnas actúa como un faro que pone en contraste con la oscuridad del cubo. Como el Església de Betlem, su interior fue destripado durante la guerra civil española, pero el retiro las paradas y las pantallas aumenta solamente la belleza del interior y simplicidad.
